Vata, pitta and kapha are the names of the doshas or energies that move in your body causing good or bad effects upon you. According to Ayurveda we are divided into three constitutional types. These are vata, pitta and kapha. These doshas are qualities that are in charge of how you feel physically, mentally and emotionally. They influence your bodily functions and processes as well as the way your minds work and your moods. So, look after your doshas and they will look after you!
These doshas are present at conception and they change constantly, according to daily life, circumstances, relationships, foods, weather and much more. As these doshas become raised through certain actions and influences, if they are not pacified accordingly, they will become aggravated. So, listen to your doshas, they are telling you something important. Ignore them and you might become poorly. Are you working too hard, or maybe becoming a couch potato? Are you drinking too much alcohol and eating late in the evening? Are you spending too much time on social media, or with the wrong people? These things will influence your doshas.
Although you may be very strong and like to push things, and your threshold is thankfully very generous, only push so far. Your body sends warning signals; maybe you keep getting bouts of constipation or diarrhoea, maybe your skin is suffering or you can’t remember the last time you had a good night’s sleep. These are signs that your doshas need attention. Time to ease things and calm this aggravation by looking at your diet and lifestyle. Ignore things and the imbalances may become chronic and your health may really suffer.
Living within this Ayurvedic threshold is a safe and natural way to keep your doshas balanced and with that you remain healthy. An Ayurvedic consultation will assess your constitution and provide you with appropriate diet and lifestyle for your doshas.
