Mindfulness in sport

I love running - it makes me feel good in every way. However, some days are better than others and I find that if I practise certain techniques using mindfulness, my stamina and speed improve substantially.

Before my run I visualise the run going well and little techniques enhance a feeling of positivity, so that I am in a good frame of mind before I start. When I start running, the breath is my focus to get me in to the zone. I am soon in a rhythm and enjoy becoming part of what feels like a lovely flow. Inhalation brings fresh invigorating energy which energises, exhalation releases stress and tension.

In my mind I can use the elements to help me. The wind, air and light all can be used to my benefit and I can feel their power strengthening my body and mind, enhancing my ability and enjoyment of the run.

Performing well in sport depends a lot on the state of mind. Adults and children can all learn how to use the power of their minds to improve their performance in sport, as well as other aspects of their lives.

Would you like to learn how to use the mind to improve your performance in sport, or indeed any other part of your life? If so why not get in touch, I’d love to help.
