The Jam Jar in Newquay is a cute and cosy little café in the centre of Newquay, run by the lovely Jess. Jess started the business three years ago and over the years she has worked extremely hard and has gained a reputation for being one of the best bakers around. She has a large range of amazing home cooked cakes, pastries and fruit loaves and is a truly creative baker. Jess serves breakfasts such as superfood smoothie bowls and homemade granola with organic yoghurt and fresh fruit, croissants and yoghurts. For lunch she serves the tastiest of bagels with a good variety of healthy fillings to choose from.
Jess is aware that people are becoming more and more health conscious and that many are seeking alternatives such as gluten free, sugar free and vegan. There is always a good selection of food and drinks which means that there is something for everyone. Some of the healthier options that she bakes are banana and fig loaf made with coconut sugar. I love this toasted with organic butter and raw honey. Delicious coffees and teas are served all day long and drinks using alternatives to dairy such as almond, hazelnut, coconut and soy milk. A great Ayurvedic drink that is on the menu is her “golden milk” which is made with organic turmeric. One of her latest drinks is a “lilac latte” made with acai berries.
It is great to have a unique place like the Jam Jar to grab a takeaway, or to sit in and relax and have a natter.
